CHARACTER COUNTS – LESSON 1 - In His Image
Luke 6:3&5 “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” Someone said to the Lord: “I am so upset. Did you see the way so and so constantly gossips and tears down others? Lord, I really wish you would do something about it, it is just not right! I guess I need to go to them and explain just how destructive their behavior is” “Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” How many times have we found ourselves getting critical of someone and then realize that the fault we see in that person is a flaw in our own character? Let us first confess our sins to the Lord, purpose to change ourselves, and then instead of giving our laundry list of criticisms to God concerning our brother or sister, let’s lift them up before His throne, bless them, and trust God to repair whatever may be amiss in their lives. Every day let us look in the mirror of God’s Glory and see ourselves for who we are. We are made in the image of God. Do we look like Him when we examine ourselves? Lori Holdaway
